In this episode, Hoots on The Ground talks about trust and the book 5 Dysfunctions of a Team, where trust is the foundation of all things for a team. Once a solid basis of trust is established, then we can begin to have healthy conflict. With healthy conflict will come commitments that we will all be able to hold one another accountable for results!
Predictive Trust and Vulnerability Based Trust
Patrick Lencioni also discusses the two types of trust:
Predictive Trust: The ability to do what you say and the fact that you have known one another for so long, you know the other person’s next move.
Vulnerability Based Trust: The ability to be open, honest, and transparent based on who you are as a human being.
Will your team show up for you when you need them both in the physical and emotional form? This episode will really help you to stop and understand how to pick up on people’s words and actions.
If you’re not intentional about culture, then you’re being intentional about your culture. Come learn about the VTCA cycle – vulnerability, trust, conditions, and affirmations are the cycle that it takes to establish a positive culture and/or world. This is how we make humanity great!
Hoots briefly touches on the book called Leadership and Self Deception by the Arbinger Institute. This book helps people understand that most of their problems are internal and can be solved with the right perspective and changes to one’s own actions.
Come hear the story of the Emperor with no clothes. It’s provided as context for creating environments for people to speak up!
Hoots finally lays the challenge to Felipe to get him on The Lean Builder podcast after being called out! Hoots wants to spread the love to make things Easier, Better, Faster for Construction teams because that is just what lean builders do!
ABOUT HOOTS ON THE GROUND PODCAST:
The Lean Builder’s absolutely, positively NO bullshido podcast. Join Host Adam Hoots and his guests as they dig deep into the topics that are relevant to those of us who “get it”: the men and women with the dirty boots, the ones who work in the field, doing the hands-on business of construction each day. Listen in as we keep it real while stories from the trenches are shared along with lessons learned and some laughter along the way.
